COP 26 day 2 kicks off with a very insightful event hosted by the Circle Economy on how to address blindspots of net-zero emission strategies!

Our senior expert Panagiotis Fragkos underlined the need for decarbonisation to go hand in hand with fiscal policies and stressed that Integrated  Assessment Models can help measure the distributional impacts of decarbonisation and stenghten the political acceptance of climate policy.

In fact, research within INNOPATHS project showed that recycling EU ETS revenues as lump-sum to households can support incomes and jobs ensuring a just transition; an idea that now forms part of the Social Climate Fund within the Fitfor55 policy package.
