On 3-4 October we welcomed colleagues from across Europe in Athens to kickstart the DECIPHER project, which we coordinate! The meeting was also hybrid allowing partners who couldn’t make it in person to join us remotely!
DECIPHER stands for Decision – making framework and processes for holistic evaluation of environmental and climate policies and will run for the next 3 years with funding from Horizon Europe.
During the two days partners had the chance to brainstorm, address open points and decide on immediate next steps! Our project advisor from CINEA – European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency set the EU policy context and priorities for the coming years, shedding light on how DECIPHER may contribute towards advancing these priorities.
DECIPHER in a nutshell:
➡️ DECIPHER will come up with a holistic and operational decision-making framework that integrates advanced economic and biophysical models, empirical methods and stakeholder participation tools, as well as environmental damage and the risk-opportunity approach in order to significantly improve decision-making on climate change and biodiversity and enhance policy resilience and feasibility.
➡️ behavioural insights, technology innovation, financial risk valuation and the capacity to assess extreme events and critical tipping points are some of the innovative features with which we will equip the models used in the project.
We are excited to embark on this fascinating journey with old and new partners including:
