Professor Pantelis Capros participated as a speaker at the Electrification Europe 2019 International Summit held in Paris during 16-17 October 2019.
Prof Capros’ presentation on Regulatory Approaches to Electrification was followed by a discussion on regulatory and policy options to achieve decarbonization objectives.
This international summit co-hosted by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and EDF. Electrification is one key element to fulfill the societal objectives of decarbonization set forth by the Paris Agreement (COP-23) and is at the crossroads of several sectors, including buildings, transportation, industrial manufacturing, and all energy industries.
The summit aimed to identify and discuss key issues, network, and exchange information. By focusing on policy considerations and concrete solutions to electrify buildings, mobility, and the more significant energy industry, the summit underscored the vision of a carbon-neutral society, and of electrification’s considerable role in achieving this goal.
