Prof. Emeritus Pantelis Capros

Scientific Coordinator

Pantelis Capros is Professor Emeritus of Energy Economics and Operational Research at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He was the first President of the Energy Regulatory Authority of Greece (2000-2004) and a member of the BoD of PPC (Public Power Corporation, Greece) for five years (1995-2000). He has over 30 years of professional experience in energy, transport, environment and economic policy and more than 150 publications in international scientific journals.

Dr. Leonidas Paroussos

Managing Director

Dr. Leonidas Paroussos is the Managing Director of E3-Modelling and has extensive experience in project management as he has coordinated many scientific and impact assessment projects. He has more than 20 years of experience in applied mathematical modelling and has been one of the main developers of the large scale applied CGE model, GEM-E3.

Dr. Panagiotis Fragkos

Director, Global Energy Markets & Integrated Assessment Modelling

Dr. Panagiotis Fragkos is a member of the global energy, economy and climate team of E3-Modelling with over 12 years of experience in macroeconomics, applied econometrics, and stochastic energy modelling.

Dr. Maria Kannavou

Director of PRIMES

Dr. Maria Kannavou has more than 8 years of experience as an energy analyst and is the Director of PRIMES model. She is an expert in energy system analysis and modelling, with a specialisation on power markets. Maria holds an MSc in Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and a PhD focusing on issues arising from the integration of high shares of renewable energy sources in competitive markets.

Alessia De Vita

Director and Manager (Berlin office)

Alessia De Vita is a director at E3-Modelling and manager of the company’s office in Berlin. She is an expert within the energy and transport modelling teams, focusing on policy analysis and scenario design. She leads and participates in numerous projects in the field of energy and transport.

Zoi Vrontisi

Director, Economic Impact Assessments

Zoi Vrontisi has more than 15 years of professional and academic experience in energy and climate policy assessment. She contributes as a senior researcher and project coordinator for several EU funded research projects.

Dr. Kostas Kavvadias

Power, Heat & Hydrogen Director

Dr. Kostas Kavvadias has over 15 year professional and research experience in energy system analysis, modeling and project deployment. Among others he has worked on topics related to power system, heating and cooling, energy statistics and accounting, sector integration, water energy nexus and desalination.

Dr. Ioannis Tsiropoulos

Transport Director

Dr. Ioannis Tsiropoulos has more than 12 years of professional and research experience in energy systems and sustainability. He works at the interface of systems, technologies and policy support, with particular focus on transport and bioenergy.

Dr. Theofano Fotiou

Stationary Demand Director

Dr. Theofano Fotiou has more than 8 years of experience as member of the PRIMES modelling team at E3-Modelling. She focuses on demand side energy modelling and analysis and more particularly on modelling the potential of energy savings and the penetration of low-carbon technologies in the buildings sector (residential and services).

Andreas Andreou

Energy Analyst

Andreas Andreou focuses on modelling the evolution of demand and energy consumption in the residential and commercial sector and in industry.

Dr. Georgina Asimakopoulou

Senior Energy Analyst

Dr. Georgina Asimakopoulou has more than 10 years of experience in the application of analytical methods for optimal decision-making in the energy sector. She holds a PhD and a MSc degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from NTUA.

Miltiadis Aslanoglou

Senior consultant, Energy sector & Markets

Miltiadis Aslanoglou is an associated expert of E3-Modelling in areas including power market simulation, regulation of energy markets, energy market analysis, tariffs development, energy balances, and renewable energy systems. He has over 20 years of professional experience in energy economic analysis, business consulting and regulation of energy markets, in his capacity as Deputy Chairman of the Regulatory Authority of Energy from 2010 to 2015.

Ioannis Charalampidis

Economist

Ioannis Charalampidis is a member of the macroeconomics team focusing on the development of regional macroeconomic models, including the construction of large-scale databases of macroeconomic indicators.

Dr. Anastasis Giannousakis

Senior energy modeller (Global IAMs)

Dr. Anastasis Giannousakis is a member of the Global Energy Markets & Integrated Assessment Modelling group at E3-Modelling. Anastasis has over 12 years of experience in energy-economy-climate modelling and holds a B.Sc. & M.Sc. in chemical engineering (Univ. of Patras, Greece) and a Ph.D. in economics from the Technical University Berlin, Germany. His research focuses on the development and use of large energy-economy-climate models for climate change mitigation (i.a. using intertemporal optimization, and under uncertainty), data science, and open-source modelling.

Dr. Faidra Filippidou

Stationary Demand Deputy Director

Dr. Faidra Filippidou focuses on the energy saving and decarbonization potential of building stocks, renewable heating and cooling and the interface of energy demand and supply. Prior to joining E3-Modelling she worked at Delft University of Technology and the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission.

Senior Energy Analyst

Anna Flessa has more than 13 years of experience in energy system and climate modelling. She has participated as an energy expert in the development of low carbon pathways and energy efficiency policies impact assessment in the context of EU funded projects.

Alkisti Florou

Policy and Communications Analyst

Alkisti Florou has 8 years of experience in policy analysis, advocacy and project management in the fields of climate, energy, and sustainable development. In E3-Modelling she is tasked with defining, developing and expressing project narratives and concepts.

Dimitris Fragkiadakis

Dimitris Fragkiadakis is a Researcher at E3-Modelling team with experience in the field of economics and econometrics. He holds an Economics degree and an MSc in Economics Science.

Dr. Kostas Fragkiadakis

Senior Economist

Dr. Kostas Fragkiadakis has over 12 years of professional experience in Computable General Equilibrium modelling, regional and macroeconomic modelling, climate change and energy policy analysis. He is a member of the macroeconomics team of E3-Modelling, working on the development of the GEM-E3 model and its application on climate change policy assessment, environmental economics, energy economics and transport analysis related exercises.

Dr. Kristina Govorukha has professional experience in research and scientific projects focusing covering the energy sector and specifically the European energy policy, electricity market and energy-intensive industries.

Dimitris Kapetanakis

Climate Change Analyst

Dimitris Kapetanakis is a physicist with more than 7 years of experience in climate data analysis. He has worked on projects related with greenhouse gas accounting, physical climate risk assessment, emission reduction targets and climate and microclimate-change impact studies. During his career he has dealt with energy yield studies for wind energy projects and gained practical knowledge on the installation of meteorological stations and the calibration of meteorological instruments. Dimitris holds an MSc in Climate Science from Utrecht University.

Vasilis Karakousis

Power, Heat & Hydrogen Deputy Director

Vasileios Karakousis has over 12 years of experience in energy economics, macroeconomic modelling, and public finance in consulting and industrial sectors. At E3-Modelling he is in charge of developing and operating country-specific energy models, contributes to scenario design, quantification and policy analysis.

Dr. Panagiotis Karkatsoulis

Senior Economist

Dr. Panagiotis Karkatsoulis has over 14 years of experience in Computable General Equilibrium modelling, particularly in the development and the enhancement of the GEM-E3 model, in which he has integrated a plethora of innovating modelling concepts.

Nicky Katoufa

Energy Analyst

Nicky Katoufa is a member of the energy modelling team of E3-Modelling and focuses on power sector modelling, market analysis and system simulation. She holds a degree in Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences from National Technological University of Athens (NTUA) and her diploma thesis focuses on the long-term energy planning of the Greek power sector for the 2020-2050 period.

Stelios Markogiannakis has more than 20 years of experience in software engineering, information technology computer systems and software, implementing information technology integrations and programming including parallel algorithms.

Sakis Morfis

Economic Modelling Analyst

Sakis Morfishas worked for several years in the banking sector and is currently a PhD candidate on Supply and Demand Dynamic Models. He holds an MSc in Pure Mathematics and an MPhil in Economics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. During his studies, he gained experience in Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) Models and General Algebraic Modelling System (GAMS) software.

Vasiliki Nikolaou

Energy Analyst

Vasiliki Nikolaou is a member of the PRIMES modelling team, focusing on power system modelling, energy market and policy analysis. She is responsible for running simulations, automating procedures and tools for energy system analysis. Vasiliki holds a MSc degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from National Technical University of Athens. Before joining E3 Modelling she has served as a Research Fellow in Smart Rue, Energy Systems Laboratory, NTUA (2020-2022), where she was involved in European & national research projects, using AI & algorithms towards grid flexibility and electricity market analysis.

Dr Nikolaos Tsanakas is a transportation engineer, member of E3M’s transprot team. Nikolaos holds a PhD in Infra Informatics from Linkoping University and an MSc in Analysis, Design and Simulation of Transportation Systems from the University of Thessaly.

Eleftheria Zisarou

Eleftheria Zisarou holds a degree in Environmental Engineering and an M.Sc. in Natural Resources Engineering focusing on machine learning applications in oil and gas industry. In E3M she works with the Global Energy Markets & Integrated Assessment Modelling team on several EU-funded projects relative to energy systems within environmental constraints.
