Power sector modeller
Alexandros Makrysopoulos is member of the energy modelling team of E3-Modelling focusing mainly on power sector modelling and the elaboration of energy and climate policy-oriented scenarios. He has participated in projects assessing the energy-climate-water nexus via the operation of quantitative tools that simulate the operation of the pan-European electricity sector under a range of assumptions regarding water availability, and the application of the country-specific compactPRIMES model. He also has experience in the analysis of the impacts of decentralized RES penetration to the European transmission system in a decarbonisation context. Alexandros is also maintaining the PRIMES model’s databases regarding the list of European power plants and renewable energy investments and additional statistics related to current market trends. He holds a MSc on Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).
